Downtown Hanging Baskets

Last night club members and volunteers with the assistance of Bruce & Gloria from The Posey Patch hung up the hanging baskets on the lamp posts. We planted the large corner pots and Gloria designed and planted the park pots. We hope everyone enjoys the pop of color!

Change is hard even for gardeners, when the hanging baskets were first put up Gloria Stears was a club member and she grew beautiful petunias, we used that scheme until she retired from her greenhouse. The club then worked with Dean & Mary Jo Sprunger from The Potting Shed, we tried some different combinations throughout the years and recently used red wax wing begonias. Now they have retired from the greenhouse business. So off to find a new grower, we landed with the Posey Patch. Thank you to Mary Jo for sharing her knowledge with Gloria, it has been such a smooth transition. So this year we are trying lots of beautiful colors of begonias. Cross our fingers for a good summer. Also new this year will be new gals watering and caring for the flowers. This is a joint effort with the village responsible for that part and garden club purchasing the flowers with fundraiser money.

Thank you to everyone involved, congratulations to everyone who has retired including Erin & Randy Arnett. Greenhouse people work hard! Hats off to all gardeners, thank you for the beauty.

Volunteers & rain!

Our young helper who’s enjoying learning about flowers and planting.
